Sunset Hills Montessori School

Reston Pre-School and Private Elementary 20th Anniversary. Sunset Hills Montessori School is nestled in the woods of Reston, on the edges of Lake Audubon and Lake Thoreau. We provide a peaceful school setting for children ages 18 months to 3rd grade.

Ghazala Ali (Primary Teacher Room 103) Ghazala is excited to be teaching at Sunset Hills Montessori School and has been doing so since 2007,  She has more than ten years experience working with children. Ghazala attended the University of Karachi Pakistan and she earned her AMS Montessori Teaching Certificate through The Northern Virginia Montessori Institute. She grew up in Karachi, Pakistan. She is married and has two adorable boys. In her free time she likes to exercise, read, and spend time with her family and friends.

Jyoti Dahal (Primary Teacher Room 105) Jyoti Dahal has been a Montessori teacher since 2001. She joined Sunset Hills Montessori School in the fall of 2005 as a lead teacher. She completed the Montessori Teacher Program from Northeast Montessori Institute in 2004. Originally from Nepal, Jyoti earned a Bachelors Degree in Humanities and Social Sciences (Major in Economics and Statistics) in 1993 from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. She currently lives in Oak Hill, Virginia with her husband and two daughters.

Jyoti Dahal has been a Montessori teacher since 2001. She joined Sunset Hills Montessori School in the fall of 2005 as a lead teacher. She completed the Montessori Teacher Program from Northeast Montessori Institute in 2004. Originally from Nepal, Jyoti earned a Bachelors Degree in Humanities and Social Sciences (Major in Economics and Statistics) in 1993 from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. Erika Spray (Primary Teacher Room 206) I started my Montessori journey as a mother and teacher in 2001. I attended North East Montessori Institute where I became a certified AMS Montessori teacher in 2004.  I have been a primary lead teacher at a Montessori school in Fairfax for the past seven years, I joined SHMS on 2014 looking for an opportunity to continue teaching closer to my home in Reston. I'm fluent in Spanish (born in Peru) and a  mother of two. In my spare time I enjoy cooking, music, outdoors activities, and also practicing martial arts. "Healthy body, strong mind"

Erika Spray (Primary Teacher Room 206)

I started my Montessori journey as a mother and teacher in 2001. I attended North East Montessori Institute where I became a certified AMS Montessori teacher in 2004.  I have been a primary lead teacher at a Montessori school in Fairfax for the past seven years, I joined SHMS on 2014 looking for an opportunity to continue teaching closer to my home in Reston.

Emily Voorhees (Primary Teacher 104) Emily is from Chesapeake, Virginia, and moved to Northern Virginia with her husband and puppy in 2014. Jeannie Minyard (Primary Teacher Room 103) Jeannie Minyard happily joined Sunset Hills Montessori School in July of 2012 as a primary lead teacher.  She began her Montessori teaching career in September of 2005.  She Attended Marymount University and studied Early Childhood Education, (NK-7).  Jeannie has always enjoyed working with children, as a Pre-School Teacher, home daycare provider, volunteer in the schools where her three children attended, Grace Art docent, classroom Assistant, 4-H leader and Children's Church Educator. In June 2005 she received her Montessori Teaching Certification.  Jeannie feels very fortunate to be teaching at such a wonderful and supportive school.

I finished my education in India and taught History in High school for three years before coming to US in 1993. Her husband, David, a physicist, went to work for the Navy and Brandy taught Composition at NOVA. In 2012, they welcomed their son, James. Before coming to Sunset Hills, Brandy completed her studies at the Northern Virginia Montessori Institute and worked at the Boyd School. Among her hobbies are reading, camping, sewing and cooking.
